Titleist adds to the ultra-lightweight line to maximize launch & distance for golfers with moderate swing speeds

By Sabrina Naccarato

With the introduction of the TS1 drivers in 2019, an entire group of golfers was offered a club to help increase club speed and distance with an ultra-lightweight driver. This group of moderate swing speed golfers really benefited from this club off of the tee but were missing out on a fairway wood and hybrids to go with it- and Titleist listened. Along with the release of the new TSi1 driver, the company is launching new TSi1 fairway woods and hybrids.

The new TSi1 fairway woods feature an extremely light setup- its nearly 50 grams lighter than most fairway woods. Titleist accomplished this by moving 10 grams out of the head but still maintained high Moment of Inertia (MOI) by pushing the Center of Gravity (CG) back into the head. All of this contributes to a high launch, which most moderate swing speed golfers desire.

“One of the things that we heard pretty regularly when we launched TS1, was golfers really liked it and they wanted a fairway to go with it. We know this moderate swing speed player is a sweeper and needs help with launch, so we developed a low profile set of TSi1 fairway metals. Some of the moderate swing golfers we tested said they could never even play a fairway before they hit the new TSi1. They picked up speed, they picked up launch angle, and the mid-spin design kept the ball in the air longer.”

With the new TSi1 hybrids, they have a larger profile which helps to deliver a higher launch with mid-spin. The hybrids also feature a deep CG for high MOI and speed across the face. Adjusting the CG to increase the MOI, contributes to consistency across the face.

“The TSi hybrid is a totally new shape for Titleist. This is the perfect complement to the lightweight TSi drivers and fairways. It has a bigger sole, the highest MOI, and is the most forgiving of any hybrid we’ve ever made. It has an extremely low CG and is 20 grams lighter than a standard hybrid.”
