Mizuno launches the next generation of ST drivers packed with exciting new technology
We’ve heard it before- Mizuno is only an iron company. Well, after the impressive success of the ST190 and ST200 wood lines, I’m pretty confident in saying that any golf club Mizuno produces will perform just as well as any other club manufacturer. And in the crowded 2021 launch season, I would be stunned if the new Mizuno ST drivers aren’t near the top of the leader board.
The new Mizuno ST-Z and ST-X drivers feature the second generation forged SAT2041 Beta Ti Face and complex carbon construction to deliver both potent ball speeds and a dense, satisfying sensation at impact.
The two models are both loaded with tech but the Mizuno R&D team was very specific when it came to making a driver for different types of golfers. The ST-Z driver focused on balanced toe/heel carbon composite construction with deep central back weight – for a spin efficient, straight-line ball flight. While the ST-X driver has a draw-biased carbon composite construction aided by a heel side sole weight to help those golfers who often find their golf ball in the right rough. Check out the exciting features and benefits of each model below and run, don’t walk, to a GOLFTEC near you to get fit for the new Mizuno ST drivers.

Mizuno ST-Z driver
The ST-Z’s predecessor the ST200 had a reputation for being a straight-line bomber favoured by our longer hitting tour players – and the ST-Z profile is no different. But with a year’s extra experience of engineering Forged Beta SAT2041 Ti – we were able to release a little extra ball speed and a much more satisfying experience off the clubface.
Highly resilient Forged SAT2041 Beta Ti Face: As a high strength Beta Ti, SAT2041 maintains its characteristics and resists micro fractures for longer than the commonly used 6-4 Ti.
New Multi-thickness CORTECH Face: Refined to maximize the return from Mizuno’s Beta Ti face. Ball speeds most noticeably improved low on the clubface.
‘Dense’ or solid feedback: The majority of Mizuno’s tour players expressed a preference for more dense feedback through impact. Mizuno’s engineers spent a year finessing the sound to a more muted, powerful tone.
Quick Switch Adjustability: 4 degrees of loft adjustability to fine-tune look and trajectory.
Optimized Wave Sole Plate: Delivers an additional contribution to ball speed – low from the clubface.
Z Axis design for straight-line flight: Balanced use of carbon composite on the sole and deep central sole weight are biased towards a straight-line flight and low spin efficiency.Wide, low footprint with neutral visual lie angle.

Mizuno ST-X driver
In testing, a lot of our tour players preferred the ST-X over the ST-Z for its deeper shape and slightly smaller profile. I’d recommend starting with an open mind and dropping the ST-X alongside the ST-Z in the address position. For a draw bias driver, it’s not going to be what most players expect.

X-Axis design for draw bias: Expanded toe located carbon composite window, with heel located sole weight combine to produce a reliable draw bias.
More compact profile: Slightly deeper back portion and more upright visual lie angle.
